Augusto for Austrian Women’s Run

European Cross Country Champ Jessica Augusto takes part at the Austrian Women’s Run in May, 22nd

An exciting competition is predicted at this year’s Austrian Womens Run!

Jessica Augusto, Europe’s leading women in cross-country, will lead the field of international athletes in the elite 5k- race! Her fast competitors: Germany’s Sabrina Mockenhaupt, Portuguese runner Ana Dulce Felix.

Organiser Ilse Dippmann states: “It’s pretty exciting, Jessica, Sabrina und Ana met the last time at the European Athletic Championships in Barcelona 2010 (10.000m race), and finished 3rd, 6th and 9th. It will be an exciting and fast run at the women’s run here in Vienna.”

The current course record over 5k – 15:29,4min – is held by Jelena Prokopcuka (LAT) –she won the race in 2009.

Short information – Jessica Augusto (POR)

Jessica Augusto, one of the fastest European women, takes part at the Austrian Women’s run the second time after 2009. She won the European Crosscountry Championships 2010 (Albufeira, POR) and the bronze medal at the 10,000m race at the European Championships in Barcelona (+ 4th place at the 5.000m). In march 2011, Jessica ran personal best at the halfmarathon Rome-Ostia (69:10); in April, she made her marathon-debut in London 2011 (2:24:33). Personal best – 5k: 14:37,07 (2007).

Short information – Sabrina Mockenhaupt (GER)

Sabrina is currently the fastest German woman – 2010 she ran Germany’s best over distances of 5.000, 10.000m, halfmarathon and marathon. Sabrina succeeded internationally as well: she finished 6th at the European Championships in Barcelona 2010 (10.000m), came in second at the European Cup 2010 (10.000)or reached the 5th place at the well-known FBK Games. After 2005, 2007 and 2008, she will run the Women’s Run in Vienna for the 4th time – will she win the 5k race the 4th time as well? Her personal best over 5k: 14:59,88 (2008).

Short information – Ana Dulce Felix (POR)

After her 2nd place at the Vienna Marathon, Ana Duce Felix will visit Austria’ capital the second time in 2011 to take part at the Women’s Run. The Portuguese runner also succeeded in international competitions as well: she finished 9th at the 10.000n race at the European Championships 2010 and won the bronze medal at the European Crosscountry Championships 2010/Albufeira. Some weeks ago she improved her pB in halfmarathon with 68:33min. Her personal best over 5 k: 15:08,02 (2009)

The following athletes also announced their participation: Elena Romagnolo (ITA), Charlotte Purdue (GBR), Maria Sig Møller (DEN), Katarina Béresová (SVK) and Jennifer Wenth (AUT).

Short information Austrian Women’s Run 2011:

25.100 participants will take part at this year’s Austria’s Women’s Run, which will be the biggest women’s run in continental Europe again. Organisers had to stop registration process after only 31 days, when all starting tickets were sold out. Due to organizational reasons, the maximum number of participants had to be limited in autumn 2010

The Austrian Women’s run takes place in May 22nd in the Viennese Prater, start time: 09.25 a.m.
