Doping in Sport – On the 27th February 2019, raids were conducted in both Austria and Germany in relation to “a doping network operating worldwide”. At the time the Nordic skiing world championships were taking place at the Austrian town of Seefeld.
Max Hauke caught red handed
The Austrian skier, Max Haute, was literally caught red handed, as can be seen by the attached video, he was in the process of conducting a blood transfusion
In this raid nine people were arrested and since then 21 athletes from eight countries and five sports are implicated as being involved in this network of blood doping following the raid in Austria.
Skiing for many years has had a rotten reputation for being involved in doping and this underlines that there is still an ongoing battle.
It is considered that this blood doping scheme has been run since 2011.
Since the arrests, the police officer who took the video has been charged with malpractice for leaking the video. We can only hope that the police officer’s punishment is not more severe than that of those involved in doping.
Due to the doping arrests taking place in Austria an investigation was launched, as it is considered a ‘form of financial crime’.
