"We had tremendous success at our three races in 2010 with more than 16,000 registered participants from all 50 states," said Dawna Stone, president of Women’s Running magazine and founder of The Women’s Half Marathon Series. "To-date, the series has raised more than $ 1 million for our charity partners which include the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society."
Dave McGillivray, race director of the Boston Marathon, and his DMSE Sports team will again be providing world class race day logistics. "We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the Women’s Half Marathon Series," said McGillivray. "I’ve been involved with hundreds of events and the Women’s Half Marathon Series is truly a unique experience for both first-timers and seasoned runners."
All events in the series begin with a two-day women-specific health and fitness expo and finish with an outdoor party complete with food, music and white linen tablecloths. Every Women’s Half Marathon finisher also receives a patent-pending two-in-one medal and charm, a designer goodie bag, technical race shirt and a post-race finisher’s breakfast and cookie café. Each event also features a 5K.
